Rugby: Watson’s 16s dominate and crush Dollar

Delighted George Watson’s College coach Ian Brown has paid tribute to the team spirit of his side which lifted the Brewin Dolphin Schools Under 16 Cup at Murrayfield on Saturday with a comprehensive 38-0 win over Dollar Academy.

The match was a personal triumph for Watson’s fleet-footed winger Ben Robbins, who bagged a hat-trick of tries. However, Brown insisted it was far from a one-man show, saying: “Ben is a big strong runner but the inside backs all did well to create the space for him. It was a good collective team effort.

“One of our game plans was to go on the inside channels and create space outside. They defended that in the second half quite well but in the first half when it worked it was really effective.”
