In the mire

St MIRREN manager Danny Lennon refused to use his dearth of striking options as an excuse after his side again failed to pick up a point on their travels.

With his other four strikers unavailable, Lennon was forced to field a struggling Gareth Wardlaw as a lone frontman during their 2-1 defeat at St Johnstone.

Lennon said: "I'm not going to make excuses. One thing we're not lacking is defenders and we're not defending. That's my big worry."
