Hearts squad in the money after delay

Hearts players have now received their wages following a delay in payment, it has been confirmed.

After monthly payments reportedly did not appear in players' bank accounts on Monday, the club said in a statement: "Hearts can confirm that player salaries have been processed in full."

While this issue has been resolved, the club insist there is nothing untoward over the wait for last season's bonuses to be paid. The scale of those payments, for finishing third in the SPL, will depend on the club's appeal against a record 100,000 fine imposed on Hearts by the Scottish Football Association for their disciplinary record.

Hearts added: "On the separate matter of bonus payments for the final instalment of last season, these are still in line with the schedule agreed with the players and management at the start of last season and are subject to the decision of an appeal in relation to the club's disciplinary fine at the end of season 2010/11. The agreement between the players and the club provides the players with a bonus recognising their final league placing, subject to any reductions in relation to disciplinary matters. The club has previously stated that it is appealing the Scottish FA's fine. The outcome of this will determine the final total bonus pot."

Meanwhile, Andy Webster is expected to be fit for Saturday lunchtime's SPL opener against Rangers at Ibrox despite coming off at half-time with a groin injury as Hearts beat Royal Antwerp. Manager Jim Jefferies - who will be in Norway tomorrow night to watch the match between Europa League opponents Troms and Paksi - will be hoping the centre-back suffers no adverse reaction in training as he is already without suspended right-back Jamie Hamill for the clash with the champions.
