Highland League roundup: Forres increase lead after engineering victory over Cove

Forres Mechanics put five past Cove Rangers yesterday afternoon in a victory that puts them three points clear at the top of the Highland League.

Gary Tweedie opened the scoring for the home side after just two minutes. But 13 minutes later, Jordan Leighton levelled for Cove. Tweedie restored the Can Cans’ lead on the stroke of half-time and completed his hat-trick ten minutes later. Lee Fraser hit the fourth on 65 minutes and Kyle Scott completed the rout with 12 minutes left.

Nairn County stay second after Wayne Mackintosh salvaged a late, late 2-2 draw with Turriff United, who had gone 2-1 up in injury time.
