But the tie turned in Queen’s Park’s favour when Neil McGregor saw red for a challenge on Jamie Longworth, who netted from the resultant penalty.
Sean Burns then grabbed the winner to ensure the hosts would progress to the next round.
In last night’s other ties, Inverness beat Arbroath 2-0 and St Mirren thumped Ayr United 5-1.
