Fife derby sees six of the best from Cowdenbeath

SECOND Division

Cowdenbeath 6 East Fife 2

COWDENBEATH won their Fife derby at a canter after smashing rivals East Fife 6-2 at Central Park.

The hosts' Jay Stein opened the scoring after 35 minutes and there was no more scoring until the second half, when Stevie Crawford pulled East Fife level in 51 minutes, but that was not to last.

Gareth Wardlaw, Paul McQuade and Darren McGregor all scored within nine minutes and although Paul McManus pulled one back, Mark Ramsey and Stein's second finished it off.

Alloa Athletic 2 Clyde 2

DAVID McClune's last-gasp equaliser saved Alloa's blushes after a 2-2 draw with basement side Clyde.

Andy Scott had put the league leaders ahead in 35 minutes but Jordan Whyte got the equaliser two minutes later.

The upset looked on the cards when John Stewart scored just after the break, but McClune had other ideas.

Peterhead 1 Stirling Albion 1

LATE goals for both sides meant the points were shared between Peterhead and Stirling Albion at Balmoor.

With the game looking likely to end goal-less, David O'Brien popped up to put the visitors ahead in 81 minutes, but the lead did not last. Five minutes later Nicky Clark had the Blue Toon level and kept alive their play-off hopes.

Dumbarton 0 Brechin City 1

KEVIN Byers got the only goal as Brechin City put daylight between themselves and home side Dumbarton in the Second Division table.

Byers' goal came in the 57th minute as the Angus side kept up their good run.

Arbroath 1 Stenhousemuir 1

NINE-MAN Stenhousemuir hung on to take a point away at second-bottom Arbroath at Gayfield.

It did not start well for the Warriors when Jamie Redman gave the home side the lead in only nine minutes.

Kevin Motion equalised from the spot in the 26th minute but the day turned sour as Iain Thompson and Willy Lyle both saw red late on.
