Boxing: Anderson shows off his British title credentials

Edinburgh's unbeaten super middleweight ace Kenny Anderson signalled his intentions towards any boxer planning to stop him from becoming the first ever Scot to win a British super middleweight crown when he blasted out Sheffield's Carl Wild in just two minutes and 45 seconds of the fifth round of the pair's six-round joust at Bury's Castle Leisure Centre.

Prior to the bout, Anderson had said that he wanted to make up for what he considered was a ring rust-affected unimpressive points win over Londoner Patrick Mendy in Glasgow in January by beating Wild convincingly and the barrage of head and body shots that forced referee Howard Foster to rescue Wild went a long way to achieving that aim.

Now he is looking forward to his final British 12 stone eliminator against Liverpool's Tony Quigley.

He would also love to trade leather with British 2008 Gold medallist James DeGale even though promoter Frank Warren has just made a huge purse offer to Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves to defend against DeGale in London on December 11.

Anderson said: "I've said before that I seriously fancy my chances against DeGale so, once I fight for the British title, maybe DeGale and I can fight each other to find out who is the best boxer at our weight."
