Istanbul begins Chechen inquiry
A TURKISH court yesterday began questioning four people suspected of attempting to kill a Chechen separatist leader.
Shamsuddin Batukayev, 55, said bodyguards had foiled an attempt to assassinate him.
The alleged assassination attempt came weeks after three Chechens were gunned down near a park in Istanbul. Chechen groups have blamed Russia’s secret service for the killings of the men.
