UK News: CCTV 'shows couple following Joanna'

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Joanna Yeates will provide an update on their progress today as CCTV images emerged which may show some of her last movements.

New footage apparently shows the 25-year-old walking home on December 17 with a Tesco carrier bag - followed seconds later by two people.

By-election is a two-horse race, insists Clegg

LIBERAL Democrat leader Nick Clegg will today insist that the crunch by-election in Oldham East and Saddleworth is a two-horse race between his party and Labour.

Mr Clegg is on his second visit to the constituency during a campaign seen as the first chance for voters to pass judgment on the Lib Dems' decision to go into the coalition. Lib Dem candidate Elwyn Watkins was just 103 votes short of unseating Labour's Phil Woolas in the General Election.

Contraceptive fails 584

MORE than 500 women have fallen pregnant despite using a popular contraceptive implant.

Thousands had the 90 Implanon implant fitted, which was designed to prevent pregnancy by releasing hormones into the bloodstream. But 1600 women complained about the device to the medicines watchdog, including 584 who said they had unwanted pregnancies.

Baker Street legend dies

SINGER-SONGWRITER Gerry Rafferty - best known for his 1978 hit Baker Street - has died following a long illness.

The 63-year-old Scot is said to have passed away peacefully at his home in Dorset yesterday, with daughter Martha by his side.

Kent: A group of students were today set to end their four-week long occupation of a university building in protest at rises in tuition fees and education cuts. The students have been staging a sit-in at the Senate building at the University of Kent in Canterbury since December 8 and remained over Christmas.

London: A missing teenager whose plight was highlighted by a clutch of celebrities on Twitter was found by police today. Serena Beakhurst, 14, was located in the Wandsworth area of south London in the early hours, the Metropolitan Police said. She was said to be well.
