Manchester PC is buried in Moray

ONE of the two policewomen killed in a gun and grenade attack in Manchester last month was laid to rest in a private funeral in Moray yesterday where she spent her childhood.

Police Constable Fiona Bone, 32, and colleague PC Nicola Hughes, 23, were killed in Hattersley, Tameside, on 18 September.

PC Bone was born in Norwich but moved to Scotland as a child when her father Paul, now 64, was posted to RAF Lossiemouth. She attended Hopeman Primary and Lossiemouth High. Her mother June is from Forres, where family members still live.

PC Bone was buried at a service at Clovanside Cemetery in Forres, attended by members of her immediate family.

A memorial service for PC Bone was held earlier this month at Manchester Cathedral. The popular officer was planning her civil partnership ceremony with partner Clare Curran and had become the adopted parent of Ms Curran’s five-year-old daughter before she was killed.

PC Bone’s parents and her sister Vicky now live on the Isle of Man. PC Bone joined Greater Manchester Police as a volunteer special constable in November 2005 and became a full-time officer in 2007.
