THE only RNLI lifeboat to cover the inshore waters of Scotland was launched today to go to the aid of a family whose yacht had lost power on Loch Ness.

The Loch Ness lifeboat crew was alerted after the yacht, with two adults and three children on board, began drifting in choppy waters at the northern end of the loch, near the village of Dores.

The yacht was taken under tow to Dochgarroch with the Inverness Coastguard team in attendance.
