Proclaimers sing about Jimmy Savile and BBC child abuse
THE Proclaimers have written a song about the child abuse scandal at the BBC which includes lyrics about the death of Jimmy Savile.
The track ‘Then Again’, from their forthcoming album Let’s Hear It For The Dogs, is said to include the lyric “I’m sleeping soundly in my bed cos Jimmy Savile’s still dead”.
Savile was presenting Top of the Pops in the 1980s when Edinburgh twins Craig and Charlie Reid, 53, made their breakthrough.
And the song lyrics are also said to include the lines:
“I can’t believe that I couldn’t see,
“how many dodgy men were running TV.
“While I was growing into a man,
“They took advantage of their fans.”
