The council has started delivering food parcels to the city's most vulnerable residents.
Why is Tesco getting the free advertising and come to that the orders?

No supermarket is contributing, the full bill will be settled by the city council. It's a great idea but about a week too late.

I appreciate that vulnerable elderly might need help getting there shopping in but why would they need it to be free?? How can the council afford this?

It's nice to see the council doing something practical to support the vulnerable. However it's yet another case of too little too late.
Wouldn't you like to know, edinburgh
Why should it be FREE? The pensioners are only prevented from going shopping because of the weather, NOT because of lack of funds.

Tram works are set to return to Princes Street and Shandwick Place. Hooray!
"The tram tracks on Princes Street provide a real sense of what the completed network will look like." Yes a half-finished shambles!!!

Shandwick Place has already been closed for months. What are they going to be doing for 18 months? As presumably all the utility work has been done why is it taking so long?

A friend of mine recently gave up his job to become a tram worker. He said he was looking for long-term job security and the tram works provided the level of guaranteed work to give him that enduring protection. He used to be an undertaker.

Edinburgh's rubbish collection costs are among the highest in Scotland.
If Edinburgh were to reduce collections to one uplift per week, that would cut costs, you up for it?
Simples, Lothian Road
62.56 per home per year...compare this to private companies doing the same job on a two-week collection and I think I'd have to agree that it's value for money . . . I've recently returned to the capital from Cardiff and the cost of 2 -week collections was 103.14p per head per year.
I cant believe its not Butter
Going private is a step backward, things will start off fine and then go rapidly downhill to a point of no return. Edinburgh's refuse collectors do a great job, it's the supervisors and managers that are the expensive problem.
