Uncharitable act

PRECISELY what does Dr Harry Watson (Letters, 1 February) expect your Christian readers to do in response to his citing of the murder of an abortionist: apologise for it; defend it; attempt to argue it away; use it as the starting-point for a reasoned discussion of abortion, or what?

There is no doctrine that has not been crazily misapplied to excuse some criminal's or idiot's aberrant action; and such things reflect in no degree whatever on either the doctrines themselves or the values upheld, and expressed in action, by most of the doctrine's adherents.

And the innuendo that Richard Lucas would approve of this murder is one of which Dr Watson should be thoroughly ashamed.
