Royal muddle
The Scottish justice secretary, children’s minister and culture minister have all publicly said that a referendum on retention of the monarchy could follow soon after independence.
Why bother when Alex Salmond himself has said the monarchy would be retained and Nicola Sturgeon’s draft Constitutional Bill proposes that the Queen is to be head of state and succeeded as head of state by her heirs and successors?
