This is a list of the ten areas in Scotland that have seen the biggest population increase in the last five years.
At the top of the list we have Midlothian, an area which saw a population boom of 7.2% from 2014 to 2019.
At the other end of the scale and not included on this list is Inverclyde.
Inverclyde saw the biggest dip in population in this time frame, decreasing by 2.6% in the last five years.

1. Midlothian

2. The City of Edinburgh

3. Glasgow City
The population of Glasgow City has increased by 5.6% in the last five years. In 2014 the population was 599,640 and increased by 33,480 to 633,120 in 2019. Photo: Shutterstock
4. East Lothian
East Lothian saw a population boom of 4.9% between in 2014 and 2019. The population in 2014 was 102,090 and it increased to 107,090 in 2019 which was an increase of exactly 5,000 people. Photo: Jason Baxter
