Hepatitis C figures fall

NEW cases of hepatitis C have fallen to their lowest in six years, figures have shown.

There were 196 diagnoses of the disease in 2009 across the Lothians, the best results since 2003. The news comes as awareness surrounding the illness increases. The Hepatitis C Trust has opened an office in Edinburgh to help support the estimated 6,000 people in the Capital who suffer from it.
