Tucked away behind what is now the north-east corner of George Square in Glasgow stood a cobbled lane entitled Love Loan, which was home to an assortment of businesses ranging from cane makers, glass and paper merchants, shopkeepers and coal dealers during the early 19th Century.

Today Love Loan is a new and exciting neighbourhood in the heart of the city, featuring a large hotel, private members' club, bars, and a collection of 12 serviced luxury apartments for rent by DJ Alexander.

As part of the development, which has been described as a “new day-to-evening destination”, the building at 280 George Street has been completely redesigned by Glasgow-based Hoskins Architects to create contemporary high-end flats for modern-day living.
