Glasgow club The Arches keeps licence after review
MacColl, from Duntocher in West Dunbartonshire, died on 2 February after apparently taking a ‘Mortal Kombat’ ecstasy tablet at the Glasgow venue the previous night.
Police Scotland set out a series of recommendations for the venue during the meeting of Glasgow City Council’s Licensing Board, including mandatory searches of all customers, and “moments of calm” during club nights.

Hide AdLawyers for the venue said that three-quarters of the police’s suggestions have already been put in place.
The club has also implemented an over-21 admission policy for club nights, but has retained flexibility for gigs and art exhibitions.
According to STV, during proceedings the club admitted that police are only contacted when “dealer quantities” of illegal drugs are found, rather than on all occasions.
