PureLifi, which was spun out from the University of Edinburgh in 2012, raised £1.5 million from investors earlier this year, valuing the company at more than £14m.
Haas, the firm’s chief science officer, is credited with coining the term “LiFi”, and US market researchers have estimated that the industry could be worth almost $9.3 billion (£6bn) by 2020.
